Creative Development - Min Folkdans
Fremantle Art Centre has continued to support Adelina to further her project Min Folkdans. As part of FAC's Groundwork Creative Development Adelina has invited experimental filmmaker, media artist and lighting designer Margie Medlin to begin the integration of a multi-channel video installation as part of this work.
Margie is an esteemed artist whose practice tracks in a lineage of expanded cinema and her interdisciplinary projects explore interrelationships between movement, devised spaces, and media technologies.
They will take up a one-week residency at The Farm Margaret River and at the South West Studio - home to Phimedia.
A sharing of this process will be held at Fremantle Art Centre in September 2023.
Punkaliyarra - Perth Festival 2023

Presented by BighART and the community of Ieramugadu (Roebourne) - Adelina collaborates with an incredible team of women as Associate Director.

Groundwork at Fremantle Art Centre
Adelina has been selected by Fremantle Art Centre to be their artist in residence for Groundwork 2022.
During Groundwork, Adelina will develop the installation and audience-centred part of her project Min folkdans / ihtotia mahcehua (My Folk dance). The work explores themes of identity, politics, and nostalgia through the histories of Adelina’s dual cultural heritage. Groundwork is a significant arts incubation, development and curatorium initiative working with artists to create new work, platform new work to audiences & engage in critical response and review. The initiative supports the development and presentation of multidisciplinary contemporary arts practice for 6 artists across a 3-month intensive incubation program, offering a safe space for artists to be nurtured, supported and sheltered. To empower them to embrace risk and engage in rigor.
Min folkdans / ihtōtiā mahcēhua
Regional Arts WA awarded the Regional Artist Fellowship to Adelina as the South West WA artist to undertake the development of her latest work.
Min folk dans / ihtōtiā mahcēhua - a new solo work explores Adelina's cultural heritage and considers themes such as Identity, Nostalgia and Politics. The artistic research involves enacting pre-hispanic and post-colonial rituals and practices that she was brought up with in Mexico, and study the folk music and dance traditions from her fathers village, Färila in Hälsingland, Sweden.
This projet was initially supported by a Research Residency at Critical Path Choreographic Centre for Research, The Drill December 9-13 2019.

In the Rite II: Solo
In the Rite II: Solo was awarded the Australian Dance Award for Outstanding Achievement in Independent Dance 2020. It is composed for a single body with a polyphonic vocal score by Shoeb Ahmed, was commissioned and performed by dance-maker Laura Boynes. It investigates feminine experience through conceptions of resilience, inconvenient space and agency.
The work premiered at the Heath Ledger Theatre, State Theatre Centre of WA in August 2019 alongside 'To be Honest' by Sydney -based choreographer Julie-Anne Long.
Strange Attractor Lab/Taiwan Residency
Strange Attractor Lab is currently part of the Taiwan/Australia digital residency exchange. The lab, hosted by ArtWave and Critical Path engaged selected artists and organisations from Taiwan and Australia to instigate conversation and support future collaboration throughout 2020 and 2021.
Strange Attractor Lab focus on Trans-disciplinary practices and non-binary forms to help shape our articulation of how experimental practice behaves, how it moves and thinks through embodied research. It operates as an interface between the artists as collaborative peers and their audiences/publics to develop new languages for artistic practice and insight to artistic research.
